Kia leads the green energy charge

Kia launched another key sustainability initiative with a method to encourage renewable energy generation through Kia Charge, our all-in-one solution to charge away from home.

Kia and Digital Charging Solutions – the company behind Kia Charge’s operation - will purchase ‘Guarantee of Origin’ renewable energy certificates equivalent to all energy supplied through Kia Charge.

Jörg Reimann, CEO of Digital Charging Solutions commented: “By working with ‘Guarantee of Origin’ certificates, we guarantee that one hundred per cent of the energy consumed during each charging process is fed back into the power grid as electricity from wind turbines. That makes the demand for green electricity visible on the market and helps justify future investment and energy generation in this field.”

This new sustainable initiative comes one year after the UK launch of Kia Charge. The service dramatically simplifies charging on the go. Users no longer need multiple apps, accounts, cards or subscriptions as they can ‘roam’ across most UK and European public charging networks using the Kia Charge app and card only.
